- Active Ingredient: Ammonium salt of Glyphosate 71% SG.
- Mode of Action: It is a systemic herbicide, absorbed by the foliage and translocated throughout the plant down to the roots and rhizomes. It works by inhibiting the EPSP synthase enzyme, which is essential for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids needed for protein production, causing the plant to die from the root up.
- Target Weeds: Effective against difficult-to-control annual and perennial weeds, broadleaf weeds, and grasses such as Acalypha indica, Cynodon dactylon, and Cyperus rotundus.
- Application Areas: Primarily used in non-crop areas (open fields, industrial sites, bunds, water channels), and specific crops like tea plantations. It is applied post-emergence when weeds have sufficient foliage to absorb the chemical.
- Physical Appearance: A solid, white or light yellow granule that is soluble in water.
- Environmental Impact: It is generally considered eco-friendly when used as directed, with low toxicity to bees and other beneficial insects, and it is strongly adsorbed to soil particles, which prevents excessive leaching.
- Per liter of water: 6.5 gm to 8 gm.
- Per 15-liter spray pump: 100 gm to 120 gm.
- Per acre (field application): 1 kg to 1.2 kg, diluted in 150 to 160 liters of water.
- Timing: Apply the herbicide when weeds are actively growing and have reached the 4-8 leaf stage for best results.
- Safety: Use protective equipment (gloves, mask, goggles) during spraying.
- Drift: Do not spray when wind speed is high and ensure the spray does not drift to nearby desirable crops or water bodies.
- Post-Application: Do not allow grazing in the sprayed area for at least 7-10 days.
